Mrs. Grace Ama. Issahaque is a product of the University of Ghana and the Ghana School of Law. She holds an LLM in Intellectual Property Law from Turin University (Italy), an LLM in Computer and Communication Law from Queen Mary University of London, and a Post–Graduate Diploma in International Law, Human Rights, and Sustainable Development from the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague. As the Registrar-General of Ghana, she oversees Industrial Property Rights Protection, Marriage Registration, and the Administration of Estates. Under her leadership, Ghana joined UPOV as a Member State and also ratified the Arusha Protocol on Plant Variety Protection for ARIPO Member States. Ghana also acceded to the Lisbon Agreement on the Protection of Geographical Indications and protected Kente as a Geographical Indication. She has deep knowledge and experience in Intellectual Property law, international law, Company law, and Computer and Communication law. She advises the government and the general public on issues of intellectual property rights, company law, Administration of estates, marriage registration, and other related rights. She has represented Ghana in many international for a and served in many capacities at the global level. Currently, she is Chair of the Haque Union Assembly of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Chair of the Standing Committee of Trademarks and Vice –Chair UPOV and Chair of the Administration Council for the Heads of IP Offices for the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO).
