George Prah holds an MSc. in Environmental Science from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana. A Deputy Director of Agriculture responsible for Food Crops Development at the Directorate of Crop Services of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture. From 2010 to date, he serves as the Secretary to the National Variety Release and Registration
Committee and facilitated the development of procedures (DUS/VCU testing protocols) for the release and registration of 10 crop genetic materials in Ghana following the UPOV criteria. He is a Management Board Member of Ghana’s Gene Bank: ensuring the guidance for the effective use of conserved genetic materials for crop improvement, food security, and sustainable agricultural development. He supports the Registrar General’s Department of the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General, Ghana, in sensitizing relevant stakeholders and rolling out the Ghana Plant Variety Protection Act, 2020 (Act 1050).
